Background

The organization is focused on Love Discovery which is an application the citizen can enjoy the digital experience of Hong Kong places. The proposed application will help people understand the culture. They can find a good tour guide though the app and it can be the digital guide for the users as well.
 

The Design Process

There are 5 stages of my design thinking process: User Research, Experience Strategy, Interaction Design, Testing and UI Design. 

User Research

Primary Research - Individual Interview

To identify potential user, I interviewed with 5 people who are from 18 - 40, all of them love travelling and history. There are mainly 3 aspects I want to know from them:

1. What is the most impressive history presentation have you experienced?

2. Which app / website do you usually use for trip?

3. Is there any difficulties to find a good tour guide? Why?

Secondary Research - Literature Research

I googled and read the report from China Tencent company's survey. It shows customized travel route has big potential, also most of the play a good role on preparation of the trip, but during the trip, the role of app should be developed.

Competitive Research

Compared with TripAdvisor, Triposo, 螞蜂窩 & 窮遊, I found that the quality connection and content is important. The feature of Triposo can guide and sync user's walk which is impressive, my app could develop more on this aspect.

It outlines all the features, content and structure of the app. Home, Blog, Forum and Account are the key features. I would only demonstrate the user flow of joining guided tour and self-guided tour.

Join a tour and find a tour guide

Users can find the tour and the tour guide but the wording is too small for them and it would be nice if there are different themes and routes to choose before see the tour details.

Join a self-guided tour

It would be nice if adding customize route feature and the text and photos can be bigger.
